Bettas and guppies will do just fine together. Get that bigger tank first though, that's too crowded and they will fight without enough room.

The 1/2 gallon tank is too small for any of the above fish. With a betta I really recommend a 10 gallon tank. As it gives the betta enough room to establish his territory. With guppies I recommend against them if they have fancy tails. Some betta will mistake them for bettas. Avoid fancy tailed, and/or slow fish. Also avoid fin nippers like large tetras, or barbs.

PS- Also guppies can take colder water than a betta. Be sure the to keep the betta in 75-85F temps.

If you're going to have betta with other fish, don't put them with guppies. Instead, try to place him in a larger tank (probably 5 gallon) with some non-aggresive tetra. Neon Tetra are the best for this. Once he is comfortable around them, you could add some more fish if you had a bigger tank. Good luck!

It depends on the personality of the betta, he may or may not attack the guppies because of their colorful tails. Your tank is too small for the 2 guppies so don't add anything until you get the bigger tank. And if your guppies are male and female be prepared for tons of babies every month.

A betta will probably not go well in this tank at all. Not only is it too small, but often bettas will attack guppies because guppies have large tails like bettas do. Also, if you have a male and a female guppy the betta is likely to eat the babies if they have any.

1/2 gallon?! no!!
guppies shouldn't even be in a 1/2 gallon!
the minimum tank size just for one betta is 2.5 US gallons for them to thrive.

male guppies and male bettas in the same tank can be a ticking time bomb, in that a male betta can mistake a colourful guppy as a rival male betta, and all sorts of chaos and death ensues!

minimum tank size for guppies is 5 US gallons!

NO NO NO! Betta's are fighting fish they will kill any other betta fish or even if they can see there reflection they will kill themselves. Guppies look to much like a betta they will fight and if you have small guppies the betta will eat them.

No, Beta fish are loners and do best alone. AND guppies have different tails that annoy any other fish. If you do decide to get a another fish to join your current fish make sure the tank is big enough
