My 13 year old daughter has been begging me to buy her a new swim suite from Hollister. However the only problem i have is that its a bikini and it looks a little to sexy for what (in my mind) a 13 year old girl should be wearing. I would much rather prefer her to wear a one peice insted, but if i got her a one peice i know she would never wear it! So is it worth me just buying her a bikini i dont exactly like but i know she will wear? Or should i buy her a swim suite im more comfortable with her wearing (a one peice) but i know she wont wear??
-Sorry if this doesnt make much sence.

And yes, its the "top part" im concerned about. I would be more comfortable with her wearing somthing not so low. I would really appreciate it if you could list maybe a few websites that may sell tankinis or somthing wear the tops are not so low.
Thanks.

She's 13..let her have the bikini but find one you can both agree is tasteful..if she's not happy in a one piece find one you both can like

Remeber you are the parent, you get the last say. I am 22 and I did not start wearing a bikini until I was 18, most of my friends however started wearing one when they were about 16 or 17. If you want to compromise get a tankini. It is a two piece but the top is a tank top and with regular bottoms.

Well I dont think its bad for 13 year olds to wear bikinis, im 14 and ive been wearing bikinis for several years now. However, Hollister has pretty much the skimpiest bikinis you can find (they are very cute though) so why dont you try getting her one from somewhere else? American Eagle, Dillards, Kohls, Macy's, etc all have cute bikinis that arent as skimpy as Hollister (dont go to A&F either theyre just as bad) and suggest getting one that isnt a string bikini too because its really hard to keep them up. Hope this helps!

it makes total sense, but sorry i have to say she is 13, she is old enough to have a bikini. but you also have to make her see that just because she can have a two piece swimming suit...doesnt mean that it should be a "hoochie"one. you should tell her that you will compromise with her and let her have a two piece suit, but just not that one because you feel it is distasteful. there are tons of cute swimsuits out there that are bikinis and they actually do cover everything that shouldnt be showing. trust me i have to have ones like that- haha. check out this website and see if you cant find a cute one on it. they're just plain and simple, but they come in alot of different cuts. good luck & have a good summer!!
www.alloy.com ...once you get to the website then click the link that says shop & then find swimwear.

Isn't there a happy medium? Maybe a tankini from the same store? I agree with you about what's not appropriate for a 13 year old, and why waste money on something she won't wear.

this makes perfect sense. One solution that came to my mind is a tankini. It is 2 pieces and most tankini sets are longer. Some however are midway between a bikini and a two piece. Hopefully this helps!

Just buy here the hollister bathing suit, and have her try it on and show you. If you think it shows too much, they sell these really cute sweat pant material shorts at hollister and she could wear those over it. They also sell tanks tops there that are really cute, she could put over the bathing suit.

your daughter is 13. she is going to want stuff that she thinks make her attractive..
but you are her mother and you do know what is best for her. so to make everything simpilar for you and your daughter.. get something you both will like. she can have a bikini but make it tasteful. dont get something you feel uncomfortable with her wearing. so take her shoppind and she if she finds something she likes better.. then you both will be happy!

If you think the one she likes is too "sexy" compromise with her. Let her get a bikini that you are comfortable with her wearing and that she likes.
