Its simple psychology.
We typically don't like things that challenge our beliefs so we ignore or find a way to justify a dismissal.

You see a lot of that here, its made me go into other categories to have some relief, I've also learned not to bother with those who don't understand that not everything is black or white. Your hint should have come with the unnecessary adjectives the asker used, a dead giveaway. The answer to your question is yes we turn our backs on the truth, not only that but if we don't agree with the truth we shop around until we find some other nut with our particular affliction and agree with that one to the exclusion of all rationality. You can find people who will agree with you that you should cheat on your wife, that you can lose 50 lbs by Friday with no exercise or dieting, get six pack abs in 2 weeks and that the earth is flat and the Jews all got together in NY and didn't go to work on 9/11. All 1.5 million are apparently on a gigantic phone tree! If we based our world on facts there would be a lot less hysteria, and more rational judgments, and that may not work to everyones advantage.

Because facts are scary things, now. If people want to try and see the truth, they'll have to open their eyes first. You can't force truth on anyone, and that's why you've got to take things slow and steady, as it were. To do that, we have to remember that opinions are vital, like the blood. Facts are more vital, like internal organs, and rhetoric is less vital, like hair. Er, that was a terrible analogy, but whatever.
People always want to go with the simplest of answers, and force their opinions on others... Unfortunately, that's life. But, one day, I do think we'll learn to share our opinions, yet make way for the facts once they come 'round. Just my two cents, though.

liberals don't believe in truth. Any truth. I have spoken the truth many many times and what do you think happened? Yep. I got violated or whatever they call it. I call it violating my First Amendment Right to call a fat slob a fat slob. Yet liberals ask such retarded questions and nothing happen even when they slice people more than I do. Maybe I should not go to the politics area but there are people screaming for truth and, being an American and loyal to my country, I feel it is my duty to at least try to tell the truth in most replies, and ***** out the (mostly) libs when they deserve it. Not all libs are the same or bad people but it sure seems like the majority of them don't deserve to call themselves Americans!

i don't know who YOUR talking about. but, i will tell you this. the sight i go to alot is the same way, they have your questions or answers deleted so much it's not funny. people like that are very closed minded, afraid of hearing the truth. but, you can not shove your opinions and beliefs down some ones throats. and that is what one poster is trying to do on the sight i go to. if she does not like what people say she belittles people. that is a very close minded uneducated person.
