I am using Microsoft Excel. I put together this one Workbook that has lots of links, formulas, and macros. But to open it I always use Excel. Can't I make it so it is like a program all by itself. You just have an icon somewhere, click on it and my workbook comes up, not necessarily using Excel where people can change everything, but more like a program.

No if you made it in Excel is it normally very hard to export it to a similar application. It must be opened as an excel product to allow users to open it.
However you stated you did not want people to alter it. So go to:

↓ Tools
↓ Protection (click expand menu)
↓ Click protect either sheet or work book
↓ You may wish to add a password but if you forget it you will never be able to unlock the workbook
↓ Now the cells are locked and can not be altered intill to click unlock workbook (and enter password is one was set)

Yes.

You could use the Add-in feature in Excel. People do this all the time for financial calculations.
