can anyone tell me what the the proper oil /fuel ratio for a 80s 7 hp evinrude outboard motor

You can't make a mistake at 50:1 ( 3 oz. of "marine 2-stroke" oil to every gallon of Gasoline).

Don't guess find out from the manufacturer. Too much oil will leave a sheen of oil in the water; not enough will damage the motor. We don't need any more oil in the water.

mine is 50-1 but have heard of some being 35-1 or there abouts

1:32 is fine for your engine.But do stay away from 30 weight oil.The only oil that is right for outboard engines is TC-W3 outboard engine oil,which is available from many producers.
