Do not use WD40 - it is a water dispersant (hence the WD), and is not intended to be a lubricant (although it does have a little bit of lubricity).
Use a good quality grease, and apply to the hinges and the check-strap (the little flat metal part about half-way between the hinges that stops the door from opening too far). Open and close the door a few times to work the grease into the mechanisms, and you should solve the problem.

Might be an idea to check if its firmly in place. Its not unknown for doors to become loose at the bolts.
Other than that I would suggest some normal grease or WD40 around the hinges.
You could also spray some silicon grease (different type of grease) around the rubber seals - try not to get any on paintwork - where the door closes. (silicon grease won't rot the rubber) This also helps when coming up to winter as its not unknown for doors to get frozen to the rubber seals and tearing the seals on forcing it open.

could be corrotion in the door hinge but it will be right inside the door hinge so you may have to take the door off to see it even if it looks fine from the outside
