A lot depends on whether you enjoy serving the public, or if you prefer working alone (as in a phone job in an office). When summer comes, you can work at beach clubs, etc.

I really enjoyed working at the zoo. I like the outdoors. There was always something to look at so I was rarely bored. Malls are okay but get real old after awhile. You can also check into a store or shop that you like a lot so you can benefit from the employee discounts. Also, if you have an idea of what you want to be as an adult, check into those companies now. They may have a paid internship plus many companies hire / promote from within. Depending on the field they may even pay for all or part of your college if they see you have the potential.

Start out with a llittle afterschool job close to home. That helps with the problem of getting this teen to and from work which can be a problem if the parents work also. The corner store , McD's, cutting grass OR shovelling snow. There are many older people who need help with chores around the house. If the teen is good at that and is responsible they can make enough to keep them in pocket money.

When I was a teen. The only jobs that would hire inexperienced workers were fast food. You can work there after school and hey, its just a start.

I'd say Acme Supermarkets. I't teaches one to learn patience, including the cashier position, as well as responsibility. Also, the cashier must keep accurate accounts of thousands of dollars of money in a period of two hours. So it will teach them financial responsibility.

Fast food any I had so much fun working at taco bell we had food fights and messed around work with people more to your age and make it fun
