As a parent it is my duty to teach my children how to be good members of society. My answer to this question is yes...though it would be hard to turn them in it is my duty as an American to uphold the law and that's all there is to it in my opinion.

That would be a hard call. I know my son was 10 and went into an abandoned house with his friends AFTER his friends painted stuff on the walls. We called the police and reported it and my son was verbally addressed by the cops because we wanted him to see how serious it was. I think if my son was dumb enough at 16 to rob a bank, I would have to turn him in because he will never learn wrong from right if he got away with it and it would get worse down the road. I would hope to never be in that situation and by teaching him young about the penalities of commiting crimes, he will never do something like that.

Well, first I would make the girl turn in the money and apologize. If they are willing to rob the back, then they need to know the consequences of their actions. If the bank still wants to press charges after they give ALL the merchandise back and sincerely apologize, then at least the charges may not be as harsh as if the parents kept the "secret" and the children get caught anyway. Doesn't anyone know that the TRUTH is better then getting caught later?

Absolutely yes! If they could be so hard core at 16 to rob a bank, what's next? Don't wait another minute. It doesn't mean you don't love the kid, as a matter of fact, I don't think it's very loving not to correct something as serious as this.

If 16 year olds are out there acting a fool then they need to suffer the consequences. I mean at that age i was working. I would definitely turn my child in all because that means they are out of control and i can't handle them. I would prefer them be in jail then for them to be out in the street possibly planning on a murder or something. Heck naw i would call the police my self.
Sorry that is way i feel.

When I was eleven or so, some friends from down the street and I went to this, we thought abandoned trailer, to see what was inside because it looked so messy, we left we a bunch of things and went to their house to play with it. (guns, cards, money) when I got home I said something about it to my mom because I felt like we did something bad. She snatched me up and we went right to the police station...sure enough the officer showed me a prison cell, and told me the kids I was 'playing' with all have criminal records...before they were even in high school...did I ever hang out with them, or do anything wrong again? Not something that I could go to jail for, I learned my lesson, therefore, I think they should. I would. I didn't raise my kids to do something like that, and if they were to, they need to suffer the consequences.

I think that you need to be there for your child, but they also need to be held accountable for there actions, no matter what the crime is.
