The range of the router depends on several factors. Range is affected by distance, of course, and by the quality of the router, frequency of the signal, (2.4 Ghz or 5.8Ghz) and the enviroment. Straight line with no blockage can be near 1000 feet. Inside depends on building materials it is constucted of. Also the quality of the wireless receiver. A good rule of thumb is if your cordless phone works, the wireless should work if on the same frequency.

Depends on the range of the router. Needless to say, you'll want to be inside that range for it to work.

Also be aware that with a weaker router, things like walls and floors/ceilings can interfere or even block out the signal.

It varies, you need the Router for it to work though, so get that and if it will connect to the laptop then you are set, if it is too far away, you will need a booster.

it depends on whats in the way, since if its line of sight with nothing blocking the way might get 50-100metres, before needing a signal booster/access points.
