No matter how much something means to you, being able to give it up for the greater joy of someone else. That is sacrifice. Not all good deeds can be considered sacrifice. If you give money to the poor, but you are very wealthy, yes it is a good deed, and that's wonderful, but not really a sacrifice, because you were not taking from yourself something that you desperately wanted or needed. You still had plenty of money to spare. Now if that rich person, gave ALL their money to others who needed it more, that would be a sacrifice. You can sacrifice many things. Your life for someone els's life, a bad addiction to save your marriage, Your most prized possession to someone who you know would find even greater joy in it. It takes a strong will to make a sacrifice.

Sacrifice is doing something for another person, or yourself in which you do from your heart for love. It can also be a choice of options, you give up one thing you wanted dearly, but decided to give it up as a sacrifice to do what you know would help some one else, or purpose. The examples of this are too enormous to mention.
In addition, is used as a cliche all too often, and looses true meaning. So do the words love, and hate. I love this, I hate that, yada, yada.
If it is held over your head, it was just a gesture of trying to think you made a sacrifice, but all in all was just a move you thought would you would get something good back in return, which is okay if it was explained to you this way. Like a plan: I'll give this up for you , if you can do something in return. That's okay.

I doubt it was a regret, unless you abused their sacrifice. Sit down and talk with your guardians, and ask them what you can do to ratify the problems. It's okay for you to apologize for the misunderstanding.

The real meaning of anything is open to question. Is a bad cup of Dairy Queen yogurt any less 'yogurt' than a good cup of Dairy Queen yogurt?

Sacrifice can be a simple, momentary thinking of another' person's wishes, resulting in a small microsecond of discomfort, or it can be an arduous, time-consuming yet soulfully satisfying attempt at making someone else's life better despite the hardships to yourself. Can an act of sacrifice become an act of manipulation or even become simply a mode by which one operates unconsciously, rather than consciously? Can good yogurt go bad, and is it still yogurt?

Yogurt is yogurt, whether it is fresh from the package or smelly and covered in flies. That doesn't mean that you appreciate (or should appreciate) them the same way.

Willingly giving up something that you like or something that you need/have, for the sake of well being/wellness/ goodwill of an individual or group of people or for yourself is a sacrifice.

sacrifice is putting other persons welfare instead of yours and enduring it quietly. it's a good deed when done properly. if your gurdian is mentioning it all the time to you... it's not a true sacrifice. and you're right he/she regrets it that he/she helped you through and became bitter because of it.

Selfless service.
Placing anyone or everyone ahead of yourself unregrettably and willingly.
This is genuine and unconditional love.
