nfl.com has an article up about player visting the troops as part of the NFL-USO program, but to me it seems the big-name guys don't want to go (I know they may be busy, but I can't see what's THAT much more important). I know anyone going over their is cool, but it seems that unless a troop is a major NFL fan, he'd recognize guys like LT or Brady or Manning over the guys who are going (I'm just imagining many guys going.."who?"..)

here are the guys who are going
Alge Crumpler
Will Shields
Ben Watson
Shelton Quarles
---ok the first 2 are famous ENOUGH, and Watson is up and coming, but I consider myself an informed guy and I had to look up SQ (--MLB on Bucs --when I think of Bucs current D --I think of Derrick Brooks).

Last year it was Patrick Kerney, Bryce Fisher, and Max Starks (I'd call Kerney famous ENOUGH, but I doubt the casual fan would know Fisher or Starks)....(cont....

to emphasize my point --it said guys who did this "way back when" were among:

Terry Bradshaw, Dick Butkus, Larry Csonka, Howie Long, Don Meredith, Mike Singletary

Kudos to the players that are going. And shame on the other players who declined or chose not to go. I agree with you. I think more players should go if for anything to show patriotism.

I wasn't aware of this, thanks for the information.

I agree with you that it is a shame. Hell if I wasn't a Steelers fan I probably never would have heard of Starks. Hell last year would have been his second year. Nothing bad about one player like that. That sounds like hey we will know them well they are young as well. At least if you are sending a few BIG names with them. Seriously of this years as well it's like ok. They just don't seem to be getting big names over there I guess and that is a shame. Hey if big name country singers ca go why can't big name football players?

THIS IS AMERICA, IF THEY DON'T WANT TO GO. THEY DON'T HAVE TO GO. WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE FORGET THAT IN AMERICA, U HAVE FREEDOM OF CHOICE. U WANT SOMEONE TO GO , THEN U GO.
