Different publications have different length requirements, but generally a short story is considered to have no more than 20,000 words and no fewer than 1,000. Most magazines and journals prefer their short stories to be in the 3,000 - 10,000 word range, but again, you would need to check with the individual publication.

As far as what magazines accept short stories in your genre, go to a local bookstore or library and check out "The Writer's Market 2007" and/or "The Novel and Short Story Writer's Market 2007." Both of these books will have hundreds of publications and information about their submission policies listed, such as whether or not they accept unsolicited manuscripts, length requirements, contact information, etc. If you're trying to sell your short stories, you might want to consider buying one of these books as reference. As far as short stories go, there are plenty of opportunities for you to market your own work. If you do decide to go with an agent, please ask for references and do a background check to be sure they are reputable. Good luck!

It's usually 10 to 100 pages, there really isn't much for paid submissions anymore though.

in the journey that your own toddlers and the college loved it why no longer attempt to get it printed yet locate a writer that accepts toddlers books and that i imagine you mustn't deliver the photos until eventually you're commonplace by the writer (they could performed or no longer, i do not imagine they thoughts). yet you should do the three guidelines of writing: study. Write and Rewrite.

Depends on whom you are submitting to. Each journal has its own rules. If you decide you want to get published, send me some of your stuff and we can write up a contract and I can sell your stuff for you.
