It doesn't really matter to me. I just twist both knobs and use whatever temperature comes out. I don't event wait for the hot water to warm up, it's just a habit to turn it on too. When I was little I used to always wait for the hot water so that I could make it perfectly warm. It would always take me about five minutes to get it right before I would even think about washing my hands. I guess I've gotten lazy over the years, or just indifferent...

Warm or lukewarm. I think it's more important to wash with soap for at least 10 seconds to make sure my hands get cleaned.

I'm also afraid that hot water will dry my skin out.

Luke warm water, honestly to kill the germs you can even use cold water as long as you are rubbing the soap on your hands for at leat 60 seconds.

Hot.
There is bacteria that thrive and are communicable in warm to lukewarm water. Washing your hands in it can actually help progres the spread and infection of these germs and viruses.
