We are taking a small vacation to tampa and i was wondering what are some good things to do there.

Busch Gardens. In addition to an amusement park, it's the third largest zoo in the US, Museum of Science and Industry is the larges t in the Southeast, Florida Aquarium, shows at the Forum and at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Yankees spring training games, clubbing in Ybor City, sitting at a cafe in the Bay Walk section of International Mall

Clearwater Beach is worth checking out; there are bars there where you can look at the ocean and drink margaritas and so forth. There's nightlife at Ybor city but it's trashy. I'd look into sporting events or concerts and try to get tickets beforehand. There are a lot of cruise ships docked there. Some of them have day trips that are supposed to be nice; you leave in the morning and come back late in the evening. IMHO it's not a great walking-around city. You might also look into St. Pete, it's pretty close and cleaner.

If any of you like baseball, check out the 2007 Florida Spring Training Guide. It lists where a majority of teams practice. Yankees are in Tampa, Phillies are in Clearwater, etc.
I like football & baseball, so we make it a point to stop at all pro sport stadiums in our travels. Go Tampa Bay Buccaneers!
