As in someone sends a text or a call and your comp. picks it up and makes the weird noise?What could it be if there is no cell around and it does it .My comp just started this a few months back.Could there be something wrong?

there are cell phones in the house but are "shut off"....and my tv does it too...
talk about wierd

There's nothing wrong with your computer every so often the cell phone tells the local cell where it is and that it's still there so the cell knows it's still on the network you'll find the compute only makes that sound when it's close or in the same room as a cell phone

your line input on your modem could have been turned up. go to control panel, sounds and audio devices (speaker icon). In the volume tab click on advanced volume devices button. Now you should cd, wave, line in, etc. I have had the same sound come through the speakers through the line in, i have heard the wave input do it also, you might make sure your microphone is muted also. Experiment with those settings and this may take care of the problem. if you do use your line in for something you can just turn it down a little and it should take care of the problem. If this is the problem they make rf filters to quiet noisy lines.

it has something to do with you computer I always have my cell phone next to my computer, but I did notice one day that my screen was distorted but I had my cordless phone on and laying next to the computer.
