One side says it is the absolute truth...the other side say it is a hoax...and then each attacks the other for being either liberal or conservative. Has anyone taken the time to do some research on this issue?

It would seem that it is an Inconvenient Truth as obviously, those responding are guided by opinion, not facts. Please provide links to support your position.

There are at least 2 sides to every argument. Unfortunately, the media only presents those that get ratings or sell news papers.
In the time of the dinosaurs the entire earth was like a tropical rain forest. Then the earth went through at least 2 ice ages. They teach this in school. We've only been keeping weather records for about 100 years. Global warming is a postulate at best. It just makes news because it is controversial.

The glaciers that once filled the Great Lakes around Michigan melted long before the car was invented or aerosol cans. These are all things that the libs want you to be afraid of and believe that they are fighting for in your behalf.
But now that nuts like Al Gore are being exposed of causing more pollution then most by his use of private jets for all of his travels, they are selling another story. They want you to believe that they are buying green energy that negates the pollution that he is causing. By this, he is not contributing to global warming. Think about this for a moment. If he was really concerned, he would simply fly first class on a commercial air line, causing much less pollution then using private jets.
The fact is that the Earth is a living body. It runs through periods of hot and cold. Since man has only been on this rock for a speck of time, they can not say what is causing the period of change. If burning fossil fuel was truly causing global warming, then again, why would Al Gore need to fly around in small private jets and Nancy P.need a big 757 to fly back back and forth from Washington to SF?

Fortunately you don't have to take Al Gores word for it - there is a consensus in the scientific community that the Earths temperature is rising, and that humans are contributing to the problem.
The only 'scientists' that have come out against Global Warming are the ones educated at Bob Jones university and who are being well paid to try to debunk Global Warming theories. Unfortunately they get a lot of airplay from Fox 'News' and other anti-science groups.
The real question isn't whether or not Global Warming is happening. It's whether or not we can do anything to slow or reverse the trend. It might be a totally natural phenomenon that we have no control over, but most research into it has shown that by taking some simple steps to reduce emissions that we could start making progress in the right direction.
Of course, it becomes politicized, and as soon as that happens, all logic and reasoning go out the window.
P.S. to the guy who mentioned how science is supposed to encourage debate in order to get to the truth - that is a very good point. However, the problem becomes that the people debating or questioning the theories aren't doing research to disprove the existing theories or offering viable alternate theories - they are just attempting to discredit the theories through slander and hyperbole.

The scientific method encouages differing opinions. In fact, the absolute name of the game in science is to challenge hypotheses and theories in order to get to the truth. I find it telling and sadly humorous that the same people who tell us that global warming is "science" and that those of us who doubt some or all of the accepted theory thereof are somehow "brainwashed" apparently don't like that particular aspect of true science.

In any debate..there are two sides...I personally believe global warming is both man made and a natural occurrence..Having said that I think it couldn't hurt to see that our world is made more environmental friendly !

Who cares? Live responsibly and recognize your footprint on the environment, whether it is sticking to the pathways during a hike, or purchasing an efficient car. No harm can come of that, and it costs nothing to change your way of thinking and become more aware in general.

Global warming is real. My proof? Sit in a closed garage with your car running and tell me it isn't bad for the environment.

I feel like there should be two sides to the argument as there's no real proof either way, but people should give a s*** about the earth no matter what.
