I left work early (two hours) when all the work was done. I failed to check with my "supervisors" so I was sent home for three days. We have multiple people who come in late to work at least one day a week. They are from 15 minutes to an hour late every time. My boss refuses to do anything about the tardiness but sent me home for leaving early. We are a flat rate auto shop. So I only get paid if I'm working. I don't make any money if I don't have work. I asked my "Manager" what was the difference between coming in late or leaving early? he couldn't answer that. This has been going on for many years. I would like to leave but the pay is very good.

Have I been wronged or am I being a baby?

The whole shop was told to sign a statement we would be on time or be punished, twice. We also signed a similar one about leaving early. How can they enforce one without the other. It seems like discrimination.

You are being a baby! Your leaving preclude a last minute job coming in the door. This is bad, it is also bad that co-workers come to work late. But when you put your personal concerns ahead of the good of the company, you are NOT WORTH HAVING AROUND.

This is not about pay, this is a unspoken agreement that all companies make with the customers, (we will be here to serve you just come). This is the promise that you have broken; Congratulation to your supervisor to recognize that this is a very bad message for you or any person to send in any company.

I WOULD ADVISE THAT YOU APOLOGIZE AND PROMISE TO KEEP THE CUSTOMER FIRST AS LONG AS YOU ARE ON THE JOB.

I think you have been wronged, but there is nothing you can do about it. If it has been going on for years, there's no point in ratting anyone out now because it's not going to change anything.

If you leave and go to another job, it will be the same thing. Every job has different perks. Some people are allowed to get away with certain things, and other people are allowed to get away with other things.

you should have asked permission.. i would bet your boss just wants that power...bu i don't see what you have to gain by pointing out how everyone else comes in late...if said boss discloses that to the others you may get some backlash...my point is its in your best interest to get cozy with your boss. say hey, i made a mistake, next time I'll run it by you first. then that next time explain to him/her that your not getting reimbursed, all your work is done, etc.. and you would gladly stay late sometime if the workload demands it but would (boss) mind if your left a little early today....

Just chuck it up to experience. I know it sucks but every boss has their favorites and will cover for them as often as needed. It is discrimination, you will have an uphill battle proving it unless you document everything.
