Most racism comes from the majority of any group in an area. It can be seen to exist across all colors of skin and is not limited to whites.

Being the dominate race in North America, a society baed primarily on European roots, most racism ends up coming from whites.

It doesn't. Racism is a world wide problem. Living in the U.S. (if you do) has a larger population of White's than any other Nationality. So of course it will seem to be white's are more racist, but that's because there's more of them.

I personally have known one white person who was racist, yet a dozen or more of my other friends (Black, Spanish, Asian, Indian) are more racist than my white friend.

And I don't know it's true, because from personal experience, it isn't.

American culture has racial tenstions that stemmed from the abolition of slavery. Also there is also a lot of ignorant people out there who look at the prisons and make assumptions that since there are a lot of black people in prison it gives them a right to generalize everyone. You are mistaken however that most of the racism comes from white people because most people in general arent racist. I am sorry your view of American culture has been placed into this perspective, but read up on this and check the facts instead of making generalizations. It will make you no better than the racist people that you are speaking about.

I do not believe that most of the racism comes from white people. I do however believe that this question is based on ignorance which in itself is the number one reason for racism.

I don't think it does. If you're talking specifically about white-to-black prejudice, that accounts for only a small portion of all "prejudice." I live in a very racially diverse neighborhood and the most prejudiced people there are, unfortunately, black. They don't like Asians or Hispanics -- even more than they don't like us "whites." It's really pretty disappointing, considering that most blacks report having personally experienced an incident of prejudice. Knowing how it feels, you'd think they wouldn't direct it at other groups.

Shady g-unit fan says, "in fact black people get along with all minorities." Where did you get this fact? I have met many blacks who are racist against mexicans and asians.

I guess you don't know many blacks or whites. anyone can be racist. Maybe all the racism you have encountered is from whites, but that doesn't mean it comes mostly from whites for everyone.

The most visible racism comes from them simply because there are more of them and they are in the position of power.

I know plenty of racist blacks, though, don't get me wrong. And racist Asians, too.

Because they don't know what it is like to be discriminated against. People who say black people are more racist are lying to themselves. Black people usually get along with any race with mutual respect. White people generalize all other races except themselves, and they know it's true.
