basicly is it safe to unplug it without turning it off?

yes it is safe. the battery will kick in and as long as it is a good one, you can keep on working for a little while longer.

Yes, it's fine. I do that all the time. :)
Though you've gotta remember to plug it back in when your battery is low. You should receive a message from your computer that the battery is low when it gets low.

And remember to wash your hands after handling the AC adapter. It could cause cancer.
