Is it legal to purchase, possess, use, or sell an airsoft gun in the State of New Jersey? If so, are there any restrictions (according to the State or to the United States Congress) on what type of gun/what abilities it can have?

Currently, it IS legal to buy and use an airsoft gun in New Jersey, and is only subject to the simple federal regulations (orange caps, trademarks, etc.).

HOWEVER... New Jersey legislation is trying to pass state-wide ordinances on airsoft guns. I don't know the extent of the ordinances, or the state of them, but you should probably keep an eye out if new laws are passed. Perhaps you should call you local representative and inquire with them.

Yes, there are laws and restrictions on the type of gun/what abilitites they have....also included are imitation guns. Those would include something like the airsoft.

thats also restricted to 18 and over.

just don't be stupid and take them to public places or take off the orange cap.

some kids in my local town took off the orange caps and played around in a park with them... a cop saw them and thought they were real so he pulled out his real M16 and scared them pretty much shitless
