I suggest Blue Nile or perhaps QVC. I know from experience that these two sites are trustworthy and reasonable. Happy Birthday to your mother!

I wouldn't trust the web, mailing jewelry isn't very efficient. If I were you I would rather look at stores instead. But if you are going to order online then look at company's websites, like Zales for example.

bluenile.com has great pieces. Sometimes you can even find great deal on overstock.com.
I would only use these sites if you're dead-set on using the web. Going to an actual jeweler is always better. Sometimes they will also negotiate price, too.

A friend of mine got some super lab created diamond jewelry at www.monarkdiamonds.co.uk. it's a new thing, affordable, not easy to find out if it's real or not. Otherwise avoid on line jewelry shops unless you can see at least one pieces of them somewhere!
