Every time I put on makeup that shouldnt be washed off I wash my face because it gets oily. So now I dont even wear makeup except for a little eyeliner. How can I make my face less oily without washing it so much. Is there any makeup that can help that?

I used to have this problem. And everyone here has offered many great suggestions for both skin care/handling your oily skin as well as makeup tips.

Personally, I've done it all - wearing water based foundations like Prescriptives Virtual Skin and the All-For-Nothing powder foundation by Origins and have used (in my opinion the best oil absorbing powder) - Cornsilk (which has a walnut flour in it, not talc) - so it won't look cakey.

When away from home - the best thing you can do to 'blot' your face - is go into a public restroom and use the toilet seat covers...........yes, you heard me....

Pull one out of the dispenser. Look at both sides of it - there is a shiny side of the seat cover and a matte side. Use the matte side. Press it on your face to absorb excess oil......pull away. Your makeup stays IN TACT, the oil, gone and off your face without adding extra makeup or powder to it (like some of those oil blotting papers do).

Be thankful (as much of a pain as it is now) that you have oily skin......... you will look so much younger than your peers when you get older. And yes, hormones will change this. One day you'll have oily skin and when you get older, it won't be as oily, but you'll look amazing and have less wrinkles because of it!

I use Everyday Minerals makeup. It's like Bare Minerals, but A LOT less expensive and it doesn't have any of the skin irritating ingredients that Bare Minerals has. They have different formulas of foundation for different skin types. I also have oily skin. I use Everyday Minerals intensive foundation. I also use their silk dust. It helps control the oil and has antibacterial properties to help heal the skin and prevent breakouts. They also have a balancing powder that I sometimes use under my makeup. You can get a free sample of 3 foundations, 1 blush or bronzer, and 1 concealer at: http://www.everydayminerals.com/g?t=kits
You just pay shipping (which was about $3 for me).
The makeup is lightweight so it feels like you aren't wearing any makeup.

When I am going to be outside and in the heat a lot, I carry the Clean & Clear oil blotting sheets in my purse.

I also use witch hazel as a toner and then apply a very small amount of jojoba oil as a moisterizer. If you don't moisterize after washing your face, your skin will make up for it and produce extra oil. Jojoba oil is a moisterizer that is actually the closest to your skins natural oils so it is really good for your skin. Using this routine controls my oil and prevents acne. You can buy jojoba oil at a natural food store or online. I get mine from drugstore.com. A bottle lasts a very long time.

Make up is not the only reason why your face gets oily. It also depends on your diet and what cleansing products you are using. Don't get the idea that make up products will improve the quality of your skin because products such as foundation will get stuck in the pores. So I suggest you to change your cleansing products to something less irritating. Like I mentioned before, Body shop has a line of products which are really good for oily skin. (Green tea facial products). Also Boots if you have any stores around your area. You can still use make up products, for eye shadows, choose something powder based. and you can also use mascara to boost up the volume of your eyelashes. Maybelline is quite good for the mascara products. Cut out fried food and try drink more water. Here is a little tip-- store a jar of water with a few slices of celery and lemon in the fridge. Tomatoes and tofu are supposed to be good for your skin too! Good luck girl ;)

They have those little oil absorbing cloths that you buy in a pack. They absorb the oil through your make up so that it doesn't mess it up. Then get yourself some AcneFree face wash from Walmart, even if you don't have acne, it made my face so much less oily. They say washing you face with soap and harsh washes is what causes your face to get oily.

Merle Norman has a powder foundation that I love, I have oily skin too. The brand is Luxiva and also try using some oil sheets like Clean&Clear you just put it on your face and it absorbs the oil.

Invest in a powder that says shine-free or matte on the packaging. Also get hold of some blotting sheets, you tap them gently on shiny spots, don't rub.Use makeup formulated for oily skin.

You may be sabotaging yourself by washing too much, your skin reacts to being dried out with harsh drying agents by overproducing oils.Wash only twice daily with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil (boy those guys oughta pay me for every time I recommend them on this site),and moisturise with something from Aveeno's Positively Radiant range.Use warm, not hot water on your face. And spike your rinse water with a splash of fresh lemon juice to see if your skin calms its oil production down a smidgen. Remember, cleanse, tone AND moisturise, even the oiliest skin needs moisture,as distinct from oil.

Try Cover Girl liquid foundation in Clean or Oil Control. After applying, I'd also recommend using Cover Girl translucent powder over the foundation - look for the silver compact. I hope this helps!

Im not sure about make up, but there are products to help your oily face. Of course your face will always be oily, you have to learn about the T zone, your forehead, nose, and chin are always oily. Hit those areas the hardest.

You should try those Blotters that absorb the oil from your skin throughout the day, but won't ruin your make-up. Don't pile on powder to try to cover up the oil. It will just make your makeup look cakey and not natural.

I suggest bare minerals make up line. They have this step in their make up line called the mineral veil that you apply after all of your other make up is in place. Get the starter kit...to be able to get the full benefit of using this makeup line. I have used many different types of makeup for my sensitive acne prone skin (clinique, lancome, almay, nars....just to name a few) Bare Minerals is by far the best makeup line I have ever used...it definitely brings the make up to whole other level.
