I don't know how far back you want to go but Billy Kersands was an early nineteenth century African American comedian. Bert Williams was the first black crossover comic. He made a fortune during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Mantan Moreland,Chuck and Chuckles, Buck and Bubbles and lets not forget Stepin Fetchit. They were called minstrels.
Richard Pryor was one of the great comedians of all time, he not only changed black comedy he changed all comedy.

Bill Cosby, for sure, in our lifetime. Eddie Murphy is a comic genius and ought to make history based on the huge variety of characters he can play(from Mr. Rogers on Sat. Nite Live to his entire family in the Nutty Professor, to name a few!)
