Is it similar to graphic design? cause Im applying for jobs in that sphere and I saw an ad about position of that field named "Desktop Publisher"

Desktop Publisher: Process of composing pages using a standard computer, off-the-shelf software and a device-independent page description language like PostScript, and outputting them on a printer or imagesetter.

You're basically editting the layout of a letter (for example) in Microsoft Word and making sure it can print nicely.
