You're sending the info through the air in all directions from your phone - unencrypted.

In a word? No.

It's not safe, and it's really easy for people to listen in.

Sending bank data via sms is not secure because it will be misused as now a days lot of apps are introduced to decrypt the message. And no bank will ask you to submit your account details through sms. It is type of trick to mislead you. In case you need to submit your account details to anyone through sms then use secure sms way.
