I'm an English preparation class student and I have to give a short speech lasts 3-4 min. And I want to choose an interesting topic. It can be anything with a purpose because our teacher wants to know why I will going to talk about it.
The topic must contain 3 or 4 main ideas or points that I can mention.
If you can help me to find a good, interesting idea, I will be so happy. :)
Thank you!

Here's a topic to consider: The dumbing down of students in America. Here are a few main points to present.

1. The fact that students are too dumb or lazy to do their own homework, and try to get others to do it for them by asking for help on Yahoo Q&A.

2. Point out the fact that the questions posted on Yahoo Q&A are poorly worded, using incorrect English and that many of the words are misspelled.

As there are many examples continually being posted on Yahoo Q&A, you should have no trouble citing them.

1) Favorite Book or Movie
2) An issue like recycling or global warming
3) A historical event that someone in your family was involved in like WWII.
4) The history of a historic building in your area.

There are just topics that I know I had in my speech calss. Hopefully this will get your brain going as to a specific idea.

Well first off, is there anything that is important to you? Because if I were you I would go with something you are actually passionate about. Here's some possibilities i thought of: The importance of reducing carbon emissions (the greenhouse effect). The importance of recycling/saving the environment/environmental issues. The preservation of species that are becoming extinct, The importance of voting, the importance of hand washing/infection control/communicable diseases, the benefits of eating soy... Maybe one of these ideas will spark another idea. good luck.

Anything with a purpose? You could teach or show your class how to do something. Like making food or an art. I always find things with food MUCH more interesting. And take a sample of the final project.

Decorating a home is an interesting topic and there's a ton of information on it. You might use this info later in life after you graduate and buy the home of your dreams.

My favorite speech that I prepared in College was about my pet peeves. You could pick 3 or 4 of your pet peeves and tell them why.
