I am creating my own engagement announcements on card stock that is 4 1/2" X 6 1/2". What size or type envelope do I need? I found some envelopes online that are exactly that size, but will it be too tight of a squeeze? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

I simply don't want to order envelopes that my announcements will not fit in. I don't think I'm "over thinking" anything. I just want some advice from people who know a thing or two about crafts. I don't know if a 4 1/2" X 6 1/2" envelope is the actual size or if that is the size paper that will fit in it.

Most of the time, envelope sizes are listed as the size they HOLD, not their actual measurements. But they are generally only a HAIR bigger than that. Just enough to accommodate one or two pieces of cardstock (or one folded piece).

If your announcements are flat (not folded), then they will be thinner, and easier to get into that size envelope.

If, for some reason, you get those envelopes and they are too small, you will only need to shave off about an 1/8 of an inch to get it to fit inside.

Wow......okay they would work that is why they make that size of envelope (for that size announcements) If you wanted to you could also use a slightly larger size to realy wont make that much of a difference/

By the way you are definitely over thinking this!

P.S. congrats

I would think that whoever sells cardstock that size would have envelopes that would fit. If you have a paper cutter, that would help. Just trim them all slightly and they would be straight.
