NO that's perfectly normal...my son is 18 weeks and he does the same thing...it's just self discovery and this new found ability to use his legs...
And infants are notoriously restless sleepers...so no please don't go self diagnosing baby and please dont' let some quack doctor start pushing meds for semi made up diseases.
No offense to you out there that "suffer" from "Restless Leg Syndrome" - but personally I think that's just crazy talk...
He's kicking...that's normal...some people are twitchy, that's normal too...
I don't know why everybody is so anxious to be diagnosed with the next new disease and pop a pill for it.
Your little dude is totally fine mama, he's just trippin on all the new cool stuff he can do...relax.

He'll be fine. My nephew use to rock his crib so hard it would bang against the wall. I had one niece who curled in a ball and would rock. The thing is, the doctors all said the same thing, it's what soothes them and they are fine. I have 3 children and they all had their quirks. My oldest was like an old man from birth, he began sleeping through the night within 3 weeks of being home. My middle child had to be rocked like there was no tomorrow to get her to sleep. My youngest wouldn't sleep anywhere but her carseat or swing. I'd check with the doctor, but I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about. The scratching, you have to let him know it's NOT ok to scratch anything. If you don't, he'll continue to do that and make it even worse around other children.

At 5 months what do u expect? He is moving , learning human moves to start crawling then walking! Leave him be , the sleeepning might be that he sleeps too much at day , I take care of a baby the same age and this one is very spirited , he grabs , put in his mouth , kick , make funny sounds trying to talk?, it just adorable ,this are first steps into the human social world, if this is your first baby , go get a book to help u ,if u r mom is not close by , but for goodness sake enjoy this baby , this too shall pass! Hugs.

maybe the diaper is bothering him, let him sleep without diaper for one night and see what happens. he might make a mess, but it's worth it.
