You could work at a real estate office, but not as a realtor until you get your license. A friend of mine worked at one for years without a realestate license, she was just simply an office assistant.

Check your states rules on what you can and can't do. Most likely you will not be able to give out information about property other than whether it is still available or not. You cannot show properties, hold open houses, write up contracts. It will be nice to check out the enviornment first before paying all those expenses to get licensed. Did you know that if you work for a builder you don't have to have your license in most states? So that would be a way to kind of have your cake and eat it too. Here in my market the new construction area seemed to be unaffected by the slowdown and economy.

All states now have laws regulating what people associated and or employed by a real estate office can and can not do you need to go to your state's real estate commission web site and read the rules and regs on it.

yes you can . you can work as an apprentice. you will not be allowed to sell or collect a commission but you should receive a salary or hourly wage & gain a lot of experience in the real estate field while prepairing to take your exam.

Surely, but not in sales. You can however answer phones and I think you can be an agent's assistant without your license.

yes...you could do anything but actually sell real estate

you can't sell or list any properties but you can become an agents assistant, receptionist, office manager or closing coordinator
