my ipod will not keep a charge is there anything i can do?

Get the battery replaced.

You can buy replacement batteries from the net, they're not too hard to install yourself. They usually come with instructions and are about $30.

I believe there is a section somewhere on the Apple website and they will replace the battery for $50.

If it's under warranty Apple will fix it free, usually no questions asked. Give them a call, be nice, and see what they can do for you.
