I am wondering how reliable the iPods are that are refurbished from www.apple.com. Have any of you purchased one? Does it look used? Does it come in new packaging? I could save 30 bucks if i bought it this way, and I want to know if it is worth it. Thanks!

Mine is refurbished. It works just fine and looked brand new when I got it. And it came in new packaging. It was just like new. You wouldn't even know except there is a tiny sticker that says refurbished. I recommend it. Mine is just like new (or was when I got it...it is now a bit scratch from use)

I have never had a refurbished ipod, but I'm assuming if you're getting it directly from apple it will come in a new package and have a warranty of some sort. That being said, ipod's are a very peculiar animal, they are very testy and I'm not sure I would trust something that has already been refurbished once. Who knows if they actually found the problem or just reset it. I've had a mini that had battery problems from day one, I now have the second generation nano and have had no problems with it so far other than an occasional need to reset it - it freezes up sometimes. If it was me I'd pay the extra $30, or make sure it has at least a year warranty if you don't mind the idea of having to ship it back when/if it needs to be fixed...again.

I think that it would be the same if you either buy a new one of refurbished because the refurbished ones have all their parts either new of repaired and refurbished ipod's are guarranted to work just like a new one. In my opinion I would get it refurbished but also get a warranty so that if something happens they replace it for another one or repair it. It does not look used because apple replaces all the parts that it had damaged. Hope this helps.
