All rock music LEGENDS (The Stones,The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton etc.) across the board credit African American music pioneers like Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and others as major major influences. As a matter of fact, Muddy Waters did not get famous in the US until the Stones came with the first British Invasion and said that is mainly who they listen to. So, ironically, it took Brits to introduce America to its own musical treasures. So Rock n Roll's roots are in the Blues.
Michael Jackson's Thriller album is the highest selling album by a solo artist of all time and the video changed the way Americans made videos.
Rap music was invented by African American kids in the Bronx and now is a World wide music genre. There are rap groups in Germany, Japan and Austrailia.
