In one of their songs, entitled Pride (In the Name of Love), there is this verse. What happened on April 4th? Just curious. Its probably something that I should know, but I don't.

Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

Thanks!

Martin Luther King Jr was shot on that day. The whole song is about him and his contribution to the Civil Rights movement. Bono has since conceded that MLK was actually not shot in the "early morning" but in the "early evening." Even so, it's a classic U2 song and a nice tribute to a great man.

If you enjoy that, also check out "MLK," the last track on The Unforgettable Fire. Also, of course, written for Martin Luther King, Jr, it's a simple, sweet little song.
