Depends. Was it the right answer and everyone else's was wrong or less informative?
Some people prefer to give you more detail rather than less, since they feel it will help you and anyone else who reads it understand. It may be more appropriate for them to "summarize" the answer and then point you to the original link they took their answer from, but it doesn't make them any less right or wrong.
I give best answer to the first person who gives an accurate answer, and I usually prefer giving it to someone who "explains" their answer, not just a simple yes or no.

It's very possible because I've done it myself and have gotten many 'Best Answers'! Sometimes I just don't know much about the subject that the question is asked about but it sounds interesting and I want to learn more about it. When I cut and paste my answer, I always list the source of my information and/or give a link to it for the person who asked the question to follow up and read more. (I may not have given the exact info nor enough info for them.)

I've seen it happen. It depends on the question. Most of the questions can be answered by doing a simple search, copying & pasting info and the link.
I've done it...but haven't pasted loooong prose of text; just enough to get them interested in going to the site.

Definitely. The majority of people who get best answers look up the answers and paste what they find.

I think it depends on the question. If it's a long answer, and shortening it would be confusing, then cutting and pasting is fine, as long as the source is given.

I have... If the question requires research, I'm sure as hell not going to type it...Doesn't matter if the answer is long or not, it's up to that person if they want to take the time to read it.....
