It shouldn't be, but we are applying the concept of universal truth and universalism in a relatively majority rules context.
It is any concept or doctrine that applies to all persons and/or all things for all times and in all situations.
Though I think people in different times, situations or mind sets would likely argue as to what is a Universal truth.
As individuals it is hard to separate your own beliefs and morals from that of a Universal concept.

It would seem so. However, I don't believe in universal truth. Truth is subjective....particular to each person, each group of people.
This is from the Universal Quest website...its their vision. Do you agree? Is it universal truth?
The Universe is an interconnected, vital, living being and we are all a part of its rich web. We are all made up of the same matter and essence as everything in the universe. The greatest gift we have as human beings is our awareness of this subtle truth. In today's modern life we see too many profound differences in everything and sometimes forget this universal truth. Awakening a more universal consciousness in our everyday lives is essential to the future of humanity, our planet and our common destiny. Media and dialog are the way to achieve this goal.

Mass appeal is subject to change and whim, and so cannot be universal. The masses are also not homogeneous and completely unified in any opinion, which impedes universality.

If such were true the likes of Jerry Falwell, NASCAR, and wife beating would be viewed as "sacred icons/practices". Universal truth is known/experienced by those with "the eyes to see" and "the ears to hear". Their number is few, and their consciousness level nonpareil. :_)))

No. The term "One bad apple ruins the whole barrel." comes to mind. Fools believe in mass appeal, real believers search until they die because truth is that hard to find.

Please define universal truth.
If you mean Tautology, then No universal truth is always true.

If you mean something like treat others like you would want to be treated. Then what is the context?
