I grew up without cable. I'm 23 and only had cable during my 4 years at college. Get over yourself. There are plenty of children in America who don't have warm clothes, a good house, or enough food to eat on a daily basis.

HAHAHAHAHA
My grandparents STILL don't have cable. But I am still able to find interesting things to do on their farm. Only a few people I know have a plasma TV. And there have been a few times in my life where I CHOSE not to have Cable TV (in fact, my husband and I are considering it again, as we don't watch TV shows much with a toddler in the house, and why pay for what you don't use?)
You can't claim abuse for silly things such as that. While it wasn't FAIR that I didn't get to have all the things my friends did (being the oldest of 4, you've got to make sacrifices sometimes), LIFE isn't fair. You can't always get what you want. (and yes, it's a song *grin* ) But as long as they are not BEATING you, psychologically abusing you by constantly berating and putting you down, or anything along those lines, you should feel LUCKY for what they DO give you. After all, all THEY owe you is food, water, clothing, shelter, and some communication and love. If you're getting that, you should feel lucky. Not everyone does. If you get all of that, anything extra makes you "rich" in some people's eyes.
Be thankful that your parents love you enough to try and give you an imagination. (Because, after all, that's what you have to use to entertain yourself when you don't have other distractions.)

Well, start a class action suit and invite my children to join it. They haven't had cable, or--even worse--a television since birth. If you want a good time in my house, you have to read a fun novel. Of course, when they go off to college they all do what they want. When my youngest gets a little older, I am going to get cable and I will spend the next 2 years watching tv and doing nothing else! You can come join me when you are 18.

Well at least your screen mname is honest, you sound like a brat! Hey, missy, I (and millions of other people) grew up without cable and we turned out just fine. I'm 24 and only had cable the past 4 years. Its great, but its not something I MUST have. Stop complaining and go find a good book to read or something.

OMG You win the prize for most self centered person of the day.
Child abuse is when you are beaten regularly, touched in places you shouldn't be, ignored or straved. Trust me, I lived it until I was 14. Grow up. I can't beleive you'd dare to ask if this was abuse. Kids today get too damn much handed over to them and then whine when they don't get everything they want. Child abuse?? HA!

Nope you are just being a brat. Do you have shelter? Do you have shoes? Do you have food to eat? If you answered yes to those questions your parents are doing a fine job. It is not a requirement that your parents get cable for you.

Strictly speaking no. Technically it is not child abuse. In fact I rather doubt it even counts as neglect. You don't have to have what everyone else does. I know it might be hassle for you, but I have a mate who doesnt have a TV and hasn't for 5 years and he's fine. Just find something else to do with your time, and if people take the piss ignore them.

No its not child abuse...think about the children who get beaten all the time, have nothing to eat, and no where to live...you are just being a selfish brat. Grow up.

Stop whining, most americans are fat because they sit around and watch tv, I dont have a television or cable, stop being a spoiled brat and deal with it, you dont need the unecessary luxuries. there is more to life than lousy directing, poor acting, and wasting money
