eBay is most definitely a buyer's playground.

It's a great tool for sellers, because they can reach such a wide customer base.

It's geared towards buyers, because you don't have to buy anything. You only bid the amount you want to pay.

Sellers sometimes charge outrageous fees, like high shipping costs, because eBay and PayPal nickel and dime you to death.

Only bid what you want to pay. As a buyer, you have a lot of power.

I love, love, LOVE EBay. You just have to be careful. I've been buying things from EBay for over 7 years, and have had a few issues, but have only lost my money twice.

Pay close attention to the feedback. I never buy from anyone who has less than 100 comments and a minimum of 97% positive feedback. Read the seller's feedback and find out what problems others have had.

Wolf825 makes a great point about the shipping costs. ALWAYS check the shipping costs before you bid and figure that amount into the total you are willing to pay. I very rarely buy from anyone who doesn't list the shipping costs - and then only if they have really stellar feedback.

I *hope* not! I plan to use it honestly to price some good (but excess, for me) stuff I want to rid myself of. In my life, I've accumulated lots of "stuff". I've come to realize it's just gathering dust, and looking pretty on the shelves, and I'll never use it, and maybe someone else will actually use it. I plan to sell it on ebay. Some are valuable books (I'm not a *reading* philosopher); some are hunting knives (I don't hunt); some are jewelry (I don't wear 'em). I plan to ask an honest price, and I plan to sell locally if I don't get a good bid, and e.g. I'll *donate* the books to the local library if I can't get a good bid...

Not really. But there are some bad sellers out there. Pay with PayPal. If you have problem, Paypal will return your money.

Recently, I do not shop form Ebay because it is cheaper to buy at local stores than on Ebay strores.

I've bought dozens of items, from laptop computers, to musical instruments, to electronic parts. I have only "lost" $20 of the $1000's I've spent.

I have very few complaints about E-bay.

I would have to say yes. But it also benifits too. You can get for example Verizon phones a lot cheeper than buying them outright from Verizon. A
You just have to read everything (Even the small print) throughly.

Ummm... no.

I have used Ebay for years and never had an issue.

There is a reason for the feedback that is given to users, it allows you to check on how satisfied previous customers have been.
