Not a fun job...
Disconnect battery cables
Drain coolant and oil
Remove radiator hoses
Remove starter
Remove steering rack
Unbolt block from motor mounts
Jack up engine block as far as possible and support securely.
Unbolt oil pan bolts and pry pan from gasket.
Snake pan out from between cross member and block. Some models will require oil pump removal to get the pan off.

I own a shop, and can tell you; getting the oil pan loose, and to drop down is not the problem. Getting the engine high enough for the pan to clear the sump pick-up is a major problem. Honestly; I had rather just remove the engine, and do it that way. The problem is; when you go back with the pan, you must be very careful to not knock the pick-up out of position, or it won't pick up oil, and cause the engine to blow up. The engine must be raised about 2 feet to clear the pick-up, and you have to take out the pipes, transmission, bell housing, and motor mounts on the lower end, and on the top end, you must take out the radiator, fuel lines, cables, and any other things that will keep it from raising up that far. This "IS" a major job, and one best left to a shop that is equipped to do the job. Sorry! but this is just not a job one would want to tackle in the back yard.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

As he says, the valve conceal gaskets. additionally achieveable are the returned of the intake manifold and the distributor. those too are vendors to leak. however the oil pan is under the oil clear out so no leak there except the oil is working uphill first. achieveable yet notably no longer likely. in case you're very unlucky the enlargement plug in the block on the tip of the camshaft or the threaded plugs on the tip of the lifter galleries could desire to be leaking. very no longer likely yet achieveable. calls for no under transmission removing and flywheel removing to repair.

You'll need to take out the motor mount bolts and raise the engine up. You should be able to raise it enough to get the oil pan out without takeing the motor out. You'll also want to remove your crossover exhaust pipe, and you'll need an engine hoist. Called a cherry picker. But tell them engine hoist. LOL.
