I am six weeks pregnant. I have had cramping and pain in my lower side for weeks now. It is getting worse each week. Could it be a ectopic or misscarriage?

I was just wondering if anyone has been through this and had the same symptoms. If so what caused it?

I had the same symptoms when I first became pregnant. I thought it was ectopic and called my doctor to tell her the concerns about my symptoms she sent me for an ultrasound to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy (I'm now 25 weeks). The ultrasound revealed the source of my pain was the Corpus Luteum. It's a small cyst that grows on the ovary after the egg is released...when you get your period it breaks down and is carried out with the blood but when you get pregnant it releases hormones to sustain the fetus until the placenta develops. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine did but that doesn't mean that it's caused by the same thing. You should definitely contact your doctor.

I recently had an ectopic preg. You would prob. have some sort of discharge either reg. looking blood or like a brownish discharge which is old blood, and is more common. Some symptoms are dizziness, wish is also a normal preg. symptom but with ectopic preg. it's mroe sever and lasts longer. vaginal spotting or bleeding
dizziness or fainting (caused by blood loss)
low blood pressure (also caused by blood loss)
lower back pain But usually the first red flag is pain and it can be intermitant or stay with you. If you tihnk you may have this you should call your Dr. ASAP b/c it's a very serious condition that needs immediate medical attention.

When is your next doctor's appointment? Do you have a doctor you could call and describe your symptoms to? A transvaginal ultrasound and two hcg blood tests spaced a few days apart would diganose either condition, probably.

Unless you are at high risk for an ectopic, they are quite rare. I have read the pain is really extreme, too, so if the cramping is just mild its probably nothing.

Try not to worry, you are probably fine.

definitley see your doc. I had an ectopic without knowing I was pregnant. the first sign was brown spotting on and off. Then the pain started, but it was more annoying than painful. I was never in serious "pain".

Could be nothing but uterine stretching, but seriously, call your doctor for a vaginal ultrasound to confirm a uterine pregnancy, just to be on the safe side. They may monitor your blood hCG levels too every 48 hours.

I had a horrible cramping pain in my lower side until I was about 13 weeks pregnant .. It was low, very low left side (occasionally on the right as well) .. it would happen a few times throught the day. I asked my doctor about it and he said it's perfectly normal and to get used to it! lol. he said there are many more to come!

I am now 21 weeks along with a very healthy, active baby boy!

so dont worry .. its normal :)
there are a lot of new things going on in that tummy of yours .. you're making a baby! there is moving, stretching, cramming, jabs .. tons of little things! (and evenutally one big thing! .. a baby! :):):)
every little weird pain, cramp, twitch .. and I would be stressed! doctor said there are many more cramps to come! enjoy!

good luck! God bless!

Could be your uterus growing or round ligament pain. You should get it checked out by a doc just in case. Ectopic pregnancies can be VERY serious. If you even suspect it, you should see a doc. Better to have it be RLP than ignore it and have an ectopic rupture.

Either is possible best thing to do would be to go to the doctors and have him/her examine you..If the cramping you are experiencing is mild then it can be normal but if it is getting worse or your having bad cramps then it doesn't sound good..Also spotting/bleeding along with cramps are not a good sign what so ever..Please go get checked to make sure everything is fine!
