i have a emachine system recovery cd/dvd and i put it in and retartthe computer and it wantletme reinstall windowsit just says error it always let me do it before

Make sure your PC is set to boot from the floppy as first boot device, put the floppy in and reboot. Type format c: at the a prompt.

Make a bootable 98 floppy disc ( http://bootdisk.com )
Start the computer and boot it from the disk
When it gets to the C:\ prompt type in - format c:

Dude u cant format ur system with a floppy.. U can only boot from a floppy.

Well are you trying to format it or reinstall
Format:
You would need to find a way to get to MS-DOS and then type in
"fdisk" that will format the computer but you need to follow the onscreen instructions. and to get to ms dos you need the floppy.

Install FDISK on the floppy drive (you can get it, just google it) and turn off your computer, insert the disk, and turn the computer back on, then type fdisk when prompted.

If you have XP you shouldn't have to use a floppy disk.
If you have an older computer I kinda can't help you there. I'm not fimiliar with the older computers.

if u goto http://www.bootdisk.com and get a windows 98 no ram bootdisk then put the disk in restart the machine and then type in format c:
