If you have pakistani friends then it doesn't make sense to say that you dislike pakistanis. Racist slurs are pretty much the most sensitive words in the english language and there is a lot of strong emotion associated with them.
Pakistanis who say 'paki' and black people who say 'n*****' are doing something similar to those gay people in the past who started using the insult 'queer' to describe themselves. By adopting the insult and wearing it almost as a badge of pride they take some of the power from those who would use the word against them.
However much you may feel that there is no difference between you and your friends though, this is something you can't get involved in without controversy. It sounds like your friends have overreacted, but if you really are good friends then they will know that ultimately you are not someone who judges them for the way the look.

Your friends behaved immaturely just because you laughed at a comment one of them did. You did not say it so you are not racist.

You have friends from Pakistan and yet they claim you to be racist?? Thats just silly. If you were racist then you would not be friends with anyone of any colour or culture but your own.

I have seen black people call each other racist names in an aggressive way as well as a friendly way.

I personally don't like 'racist' words myself. Its not a proper manner and is not very polite either.

Those friends of you cannot be true friends if they kick a big fuss over something they said just to put the balme on you for it. forget them and move on, make more friends who are worthy of your friendship.

Well, my view is that we are all racist. The trick is to be aware of it and try and understand it and be sensitive.

Apart from that - It sounds as if your friend were being unfair to you, and on what you've said, I don't think it sounds as if you were being racist, you were just laughing with them.

It might help to explain this to them - you were just laughing WITH them.

Something I've learned though, is that only the person of that race can make jokes about it.

Good luck

Same thing happened to me. I am Pakistani. I don't believe you are racist! My friend laughed because of how stupid they were being. Don't worry! You know that you are not a racist person, so who gives a stuff about what anyone else thinks?

You were laughing because it was ironic... you're supposed to laugh at the Kumars and thats not racist (its not funny either, but thats beside the point)
They are being over sensitive, you're not racist unless u called one of them a paki yourself, then they could have an issue.

No you're not. I think that if they have the problem with the word, especially after they both used it then they are the ones who are racist and have a chip on their shoulder.

Remember, there are things one person can say to another of his race tat you can't. I hear african american guys call each other "n----" all the time but no matter how close you are yu can use th n word around them. Not that I want too. I hate it. Bit it illustrates what may have offended your friends.

It is alright for a pakistani to call another pakistani a Paki. You are not allowed to agree or disagree.

Personaly, I think you showed sense of humour given the situation.....It would be best to avoid these so called 'friends'. They do not have the sense of humour that you have nor are they understanding.
