Has anyone had a negative blood test and end up being pregnant? My sister had two negative tests, but knew she was pregnant. Got an ultrasound and she was 16 weeks! I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I got a negative at 11 weeks, now if pregnant I would be 13-14 weeks. Yesterday doctor called and said I had low thyroids. But that still doesn't explain all the pregnancy symptoms.... some of them, but not all. What do I do??

Around 12 weeks, the level of HCG starts to drop so it is not surprising that you would have had a negative test. Tell the doc you need an ultrasound and don't take no for an answer. If he balks, get another doc.

I had a negative home test with my son and a positive blood test. I have not heard of anyone receiving a negative blood test unless they were just barely pregnant and their numbers were still under 5. That's pretty rare since HCG doubles pretty quickly in early pregnancy and you think that you may be at least 11 weeks. I would listen to your Dr. but if you really feel pregnant get a second opinion.

negatives can happen but are pretty rare, they are looking for hormones in the blood called HCG and that is also what would make a pee test postive or negative. Now in some women this hormone is not always present in large quantity. Since your sister has had this issue then you are likely to have the same issue. Low HCG hormone or hormonal fluccuations can be heriditary. Especially if you have thyroid problems. I guess if you think your pregnant, then treat yourself like you are untill your far enough along to request an ultrasound. That will prove you are, just like your sister was proved that she was.

the blood test detects pregnancy hormones. your thyroids let out homones. the hormones were probably just low thats why the test didn't pick up on the pregnancy. guys can have symtoms of a pregnancy, sleep late, sickness, weight gain, ect.
my pee sticks weren't clear, i took 3, but i knew i was pregnant because i felt different. I thought i was 2 months and found out i was almost 5.

No i dont think you are pregnent.I have never seen or heard of a blood test not showing the hcg count see this is counted only by specific orders from a DR and then it is double checked for accuracy,so the chances of a blood test missing a pregnancy is 0 % - slim, very very slim to none.

Low thyroid is very bad for you and very dangerous to a developing baby. However generally blood tests for pregnancy are accurate.

Did your sister have two negative blood tests, or were they just urine tests?

Anyway if you haven't had a blood test get one.

This has never happened to me. Go with what your body is telling you. Always trust yourself. I agree with what the other person said...ask your doctor for an ultrasound. Explain what happened to your sister. If the doctor refuses, get a new doctor. Have you had a pelvic exam?

Good luck and blessings!

That is really strange. I have never heard of that. I have heard not showing positive on a pregnancy test but not a blood test. It is simple........call your Dr. and tell him/her your concerns. Tell him/her about your sister's situation and you are concerned about yourself. Dr. should be able to help you. If not, ask to see another Dr.
