It makes no sense to be anything but polite and cooperative with the officers Being belligerent or combative is a sign and symptom of being intoxicated, and more often than not these days, there is a video of the stop being made...which is generally admissible in court against you.
If you choose to take the sobriety tests in the field and pass them, then the officer will have a difficult time in sustaining an arrest. HOWEVER, know this: the field sobriety tests are done in such a way that is almost impossible for the average person, in the stress of a stop, to pass them. IF you are convinced that you will pass the breath test at the police station, you can always refuse the field tests, and then they will probably arrest you and take you to the police station for a more accurate test. (the legal limit for intoxication varies from state to state and by age group, so I can't give more precise information).
For more information on DUI, and ESPECIALLY if you have been recently arrested for DUI, contact an attorney licensed in your state. A DUI can be successfully defended in some cases, but there are a variety of things which are VERY time sensitive, and you need the services of an attorney at the outset. For a referral, contact your local or state bar association.

i find that making fun of people in a position of authority is the best way get my way.(joke, joke) if more people would do as they should, not so much told, fewer would be in jail/trouble/police cruisers. if your are drunk, refuse the test. it WILL BUY YOU SOME TIME FOR A BLOOD ALCOHOL TEST. but you will likely still get the standard dui "benefits. most of all, do what the police say and mind your manners.

Well, the correct answer is do what your told. However, it seems that more and more you can get away with being atotal dick bag to an officer because the moment he uses any force at all you have all the liberals, NAACP, ACLU and any other idiot out there claiming police brutality.

I think you have the right to refuse to take the test, but they take away your license right there for a period of time, maybe up to a year, so you have to walk home or call a cab. It is best to NOT DRIVE DRUNK! Also it is wise to co-operate politely with the police.

I would be shocked, since I do not drink alcohol. I'd take the test. No point in being rude.

I suggest showing off your dancing skills.
Once the police see how well a person dances - there is no way that they will issue a ticket.
