It depends on why you quit.

If you left on good terms, and it is not an all day project, go ahead and create some good will.

If you left on poor terms, charge him the going rate for a professional computer consultant... $200 per hour.

A few choices
Was he a good employer?
Can you use his as a greta reference?
You can always go back and help him (I would)
You might also be able to charge him (depending on the amount of time)
If it's afast fix (1 hour) then do it for free
If it involves 10 hrs then agree on a fee.

FOR A SET FEE, AND ON MY TIME. I would consider doing the job. It is good to know that you are trusted after you leave a company.

Just stay out of the new politics of the work environment.

How good was your relationship with your boss and the company you left? If it was shaky, and you don't really trust them, I would stay away. If not, I would suggest doing what you are comfortable doing. You might want to elaborate on this question a little bit.

i would go if he is compensating your for your time accordingly. this means that if it is just an hour, you should still be paid for a half days work (including your commuting time, etc). it never hurts to maintain good relations with an ex-employee, you never know how your lives can intertwine in the future.

If you left on good terms, do it for a fee. Otherwise, he'll hafta pay someone else for the service, why not you get the money?
