Hiya...

Well...in my opinion, some times dividing is more difficult that the conversion process.

In any case that you wish to convert a fraction number to decimal..you have to convert it to some fraction of 10ths or 100ths, thousandths, and so on...

If the number cannot be converted to 100ths (or 1000ths or some multiple of 10s then the process is more involved. But lets keep it simple for now.

You multiply the denominator (bottom) untill you get to 10 or 100 or 1000...and so on... in this case 100 works.

The number of times (in this case 4 times 25 = 100) is the same multiple you will then apply to the numerator (top) (in this case 4 times 4 = 16).

Your answer becomes 16/100ths As you probably know... 1/100 is the same as .01 .. since the places after the decimal are 10s 100s 1000s and so on... So 16 100ths will be .16

Your answer is .16 or I prefer to write it as 0.16 so that folks are sure not to miss the decimal point.

Turn it into a fraction with 10, or 100, or 1000... as a denominator.

Since 25 x 4 = 100, multiply both top and bottom by 4 and you will get...

4/25 = 16/100 = 0.16.

To convert a fraction to a decimal divide the figure at the top [numerator] by the figure at the bottom [denominator].

So 4 divided by 25 = 0.16

Remember the line between them both is like a division sign.

Divide the numerator by the denominator. Since the numerator in this case is 4 and denominator is 25, just divide 4 by 25 and you will get 0.16. I hope that helps

Let us do it the old fashioned way, using our minds:

4/25 = 40/25 divided by 10 or 400/25 divided by 100.

400/25 = 16 and so we need to divide it by 100.

16/100 = 0.16

lots of ways.

1) use long division, 25 goes into 4 how many times?
2) multiply the top and bottom by a number that makes the bottom a multiple of 10 (like 4 in this case). 4/25 = 16/100 = 0.16
3) use a calculator :)

make it over 100 by times both numerator and denominator with 4

4/25 * 4/4 = 16/100

which is the same as 0.16
