He's the god of luck and new growth, the son of Shiva, he rides a giant rat. He has one tusk and usually a fat belly.
I have a small shrine on my desk - and when i want something I ask him to get me a break - it got me this job.

Hey Ganesha is a name of a hindu God and he is one of the favourite among us.
There is also a nine days festival of Lord Ganesha on HIS birthday and many people brings the statue of Lord Ganesha and keep in their house and pray.
Then at the last day all the statues are drowned in the sea or river water and farewell is given

Ganesha is the Hindu deity (God) of good fortune. His form is worshipped at the beginning of any spiritual act/ prayer by Hindus, particularly when embarking upon new ventures i.e. journeys, new job, marriage etc. He is one of two sons of Shiva and Parvathi and is highly revered by Hindus all over the world and (for some strange reason) has also been adopted by Hippies, Ravers and Spiritualists from the West as a distinguished form of God and is identifiable by his elephant head.

Ganesha is the elephant-headed god of fortune also called the remover of obstacles. He's a favourite of actors and performers who pray to him for luck during their performances.
I love him because he's jolly and happy, even though he had his head cut off by accident.

it's simply a doll made of clay, and painted over. However, it has a big elephant dik; the biggest one can attach to a statue.
