and it takes an hr to an hr and a half he said that i will be in his office what do they do he said i have to drink something and he said it will proble tast nasty what is and why do i have to get this done

I literally just had this done THIS MORNING. I actually just got back from taking it. It's a glucose test.They do this to test for gestational diabetes. All I did was drink a little cup of orange liquid (it tasted just like orange soda...but a little more sugary)...it really wasn't that gross. I actually thought it tasted fine. I then sat in the office for 1 hour and read a book. At the end of the hour they took 2 small tubes of blood. It was very easy.

Well, some doctors offices give you a choice between grape, cola, or orange but at mine, I had to take the orange. It is a small cup, probably about 6 ounces of the sugary drink. You have to wait an hour for it to get into your system and you cannot eat or drink ANYTHING (even chew gum) until you go back and are tested. When you go back, they will (depending on your doc) either prick your finger, or take about 1 tube of blood and test your sugar for glucose for gestational diabetes. If you have gestational diabetes, you will be put on a strict diet... I had this done two times during my pregnancy and everything was fine...

That's the glucose tolerance test to test for gestational diabetes (apparently, pregnant women become prone ot it). I had mine done a few weeks ago and I honestly didn't think the drink was that bad. It was just a little bottle of something that tasted like orange soda. Afterwards, I sat in the waiting room for about an hour (I made sure to bring a book along in case I didn't like what they had on TV) until they called me in and drew my blood. It's not that bad at all, in my opinion.

Its called a sugar glucose test, and all it is, is you have to drink this really sugary pop ( that makes you feel really hyper) and then in about an hour they take your blood to see if you have gestational diabetes. I had it done about a week ago and the drink wasnt really nasty, it was just had ALOT of sugar.

It is to test you for diabetes, which can occur during pregnancy even if you have no history of it. It is nasty and if you throw it up, you have to start all over again, so make sure you are mentally ready to keep it down. Mine has always been orange flavor, it reminds me of the orange syrup for soda, before they add the bubbles. It tastes like thick orange syrup, very strong. Every doctor has a different flavor though. They will draw blood an hour after you have drank all of it. I take my nausea medcine about half hour before hand to help me keep it down. Good luck.

ITs a glucose tolerance test. Its to test for gestational diabetes. Its a very sugary drink that you have to drink within a certain amount of time. Then you wait an hour and have your blood drawn. It does taste bad to some people, but its really not that bad. It tastes like a very sugary fruit punch.

You have to get this done to test for gestational diabetes. They gave this little cup of what looked like orange soda. It didn't taste all that bad and then an hour later, i had blood drawn.

Its a glucose test...you drink this nasty fizzy orange stuff. They take your blood before the test...then you drink the stuff..then get another blood test after. They are looking for gestational diabetes.

it's to test for gestational diabetes, and you NEED to have it done, especially if you're overweight. gestational diabetes can cause a lot of problems for you and your baby. i don't think it's optional anyway, but what i had to do was drink this drink that tasted like a sprite (it wasn't THAT bad..) and if i remember right, i waited a while and they tested my blood (i think...) really, it's nothing.
