Hi all,

yesterday my girl and I got together. we have been going out now for 2 years. I was hoping that we could get married because I would love to spend the rest of my life with her. Well after we came out of the restraunt I did the whole get on one knee thing and asked her there in front of everyone. I even had the guts to buy a $2,500 ring. It ended up she said "no". Did I do something wrong?, should I try again in a month or two? I am so confused. I thought her and I were meant to be together.

She apparently does not want to be saddled with you for life...time to take the ring back and move along.

Well, first of all, sorry she said no. I think that being with someone for two years gives you a pretty good idea of what type of person your dealing with. You say that you would love to spend the rest of your life with her- have you two ever discussed that before? As far as I can tell- you did everything right but then again I only know what you wrote. The best thing that you can do right now is sit her down and ask her why she said no. It's not going to be easy and you might not like what you hear but at least you'll know the truth. Don't propose to her again until you've talked to her about marriage and where your relationship stands. Don't give yourself any unnecessary heartaches. She might want to spend the rest of her life with you too but is just not ready for marriage yet. You'll never know if you don't ask her. Good Luck!!

Wow, your right bad situation. Sorry you had to go through that. That must have been horrible. Did she offer any explaination as to why she said no? I would think that there would have been some kind of other response other than just no, like no I'm not ready, No, we're too young. If it was just a cold heartless flat out No why would you want to try and ask her again? Chances are you will get the same result. Maybe you should talk to her and ask her why she is opposed to marriage or if she is only opposed to marriage with you. I know this sounds cruel but while some people care about who they are with very much they just can't see themselves with them forever. Maybe she is holding on to an ex, maybe her parents are divorced or had a bad marriage, maybe everyone she knows is divorced and she is just scared that she will just be another one. Maybe the two of you have had a rocky relationship and this came out of left field or it could be that she was pushing to get married and you finally decided after she was pushing and she doesn't feel it was sincere.

Oh my! I’m sorry that you didn’t get the answer that you were hoping for. Have the two of you ever discussed marriage before you popped the big question? Unfortunately only she can tell you why she said, “No.” You need to talk to her, ask her why she declined your proposal. Anyone can offer up suggestions, thoughts and ideas as to why she didn’t accept but the real true answer is with her. Even if you walk away, you’re still going to wonder why the answer was no so you need to get that answer. When you talk to her, do just that talk. As hurt as you may be screaming and yelling isn’t going to get you the answers that you seek. It’s ok to let her know how you’re feeling right now but don’t look for a pity party. During your conversation you might want to ask her if she sees the two of you having a future together that’s long term not just for right here right now. Pray and hope for the best but always be prepared for the worse. Best of luck.

First of all I am sorry that happened to you. Secondly it sounds like their is a breakdown in the communication process. You all must ot be on the same accord as far as knowing where this relationship is going. Also you all young, and I think you should giove it a little more time because you all ae still coming into your own, and you need your own peronsal time for development. Good luck to you, and talk to her and see what is going on.

Did she say why she said no? Even at 22 she is still very young and she might not be ready.

I would suggest talking to her and find out her reasons for not wanting to get married. Then respect her feelings.

Nothing says you have to get married right now.

That sucks. Did she give you an explanation on why she said "no". Maybe it is the wrong time for her. or maybe she doesn't think you guys are meant to be together..(right now) you need to communicate with her and find out her thoughts on it

Why did she say no? Maybe she's not ready to make a life long commitment or maybe she doesn't love you as much as you love her. Talk to her about it. If she's not ready to get married yet, you can wait for her or move on. If she doesn't love you as much as you thought, move on. Find out why she said no before you make a decision.

wow. did you talk to her to find out why she said no? for most women this is what we dream about all of our lives. so the only reason i can think why she said no is because she just doesn't want to marry you. you do need to talk to her and find out why she doesn't. and then you need to decide how much time you are willing to spend waiting for her to come around. good luck to you and i hope you find happiness.

Ask her why she said no. Shes the only one who knows why. I think your communication skills might be lacking in your relationship and thats not something people getting married should be lacking
