It is no different then the environment groups like the Sierra Club who do exchanges of 100 acre wetland to developers for 2 acre of unimproved land to turn into a wetlands.

Many buy into it hook line and sinker. Get the picture. LOL if it wasn't so sad.

Kind of. It is a way for you to pay companies extra to invest in and use green energy sources. If you are poor, you can do actual physical things to reduce energy use and carbon emissions. If you are rich, you can use your money rather then your time. Either way, it is better then doing nothing.

Its a scam allright. Just like organisations to help african kids. But people pay, in order to feel better about themselves. So they are basically paying for that. A better feeling about themselveds.
