engine dying down?

I have a Geo metro 1.3 litre engine, it runs well on flats but as soon as I try climbing a hill, it just looses power, it's manual, I've tried changing plugs and wires already any Ideas on what my problem is

things to look for, fuel system restriction like fuel filter, dirty or clogged injectors. plugging catalytic converter or muffler. timing belt/chain worn and needing to be changed. slipping clutch or worn down. all things that should be checked out. just a few ideas to through out there.

Fuel filter? Clogged filters can make it hard to climb hills. Have you ever changed it?
